hi all

took the rear wheels of my Vl commodore today and found that i have disc
brakes on the back... normally they have drum discs...

so now, i am left wondering have they just converted the drums to discs, or
do i have a VL turbo diff?

is there numbers or something on the diff i can look at?

FYI
The rear DISC brakes on VK/VLs actually have drums as well !
The drum is much smaller than on non-four wheel disc cars because it
is only used for the parking or handbrake.

IIRC all LSD's had Discs, but not all Discs were LSD. The LSD/Disc combo
was not only fitted to turbos.
Jack one rear wheel up, leave the car in neutral and no handbrake - does the
raised wheel spin ?

Also, the LSD has a red/brown coloured filler plug

easier to check for an lsd is to lift both wheels and spin one if the othe
wheel spins the same direction its lsd if it spins the opposite or not at
all then its a single spinners. also they normal have a little metal tag
saying lsd oil on the filler plug

You could get 4-wheel discs as an option on 1986 & most 1987 cars; it
was the late 1987 facelift made discs only avaliable with LSD.
