You don't think that the banks would have upgraded their machines
knowing that 3g will soon be switched off?

Australia will find out in September?
Seems this problem was why they did not do this earlier.
Then there maybe consequences for doing this been on the books to
remove 3G for years,
The claim is it will give more bandwidth for 5G, don't know anyone
that uses it, do you?
Right now modern Mobiles using 4GLite already can connect
voice/SMS/data/20MBs (not need for emergency use) to Starlink
Satellite, only needs a mobile APP to do this.

would like it done as a cheap method for short messages(SMS),
location, as a safety/emergency means for bush walkers. sailing,
fishermen, bush walkers anywhere outside of network coverage

If you search there are Musk people on youtube talking to each other

Seems musk mistakenly is being led by the nose from Mobile network

They are worried that their Mobile networks will endup lile the Facit

3G or 5G?
My phone is 5G as is my wife's and just about everyone else I know that
owns a phone.
I can think of a few people I know who might still have older phones but
they are the exception, they are the people that still believe that if
you use a credit card on line you will automatically get all your money
scammed from you and have no chance of getting it back, you know the
type, mentally not quite there.

Very likely 4g will be switched off sometime in the future.
My car came with an integrated Nokia 2g phone, it still worked when I
bought the car 7.5yrs ago but was switched off not long after so I had
to buy a Viseo brand adapter that fits in the car where the old phone
went and I can now connect any phone via bluetooth.
It cost more than $400 but it works so much better than the old 2g phone.

I`ve been on 4G for years, back in Dec. i bought a Galaxy A54 5G for
when 5G finally arrives here on the coast. Nothing as yet, however 4G
works fine with no dropouts or any other problems. <shrug>

As long as it works.
Oddly my Google Pixel 7 almost always shows that its connected via 5G
but my wife's iphone 13 normally says that its connected via 4g despite
being 5g capable.
Supposedly iphone only uses 5g when it deems it necessary, the rest of
the time it uses 4g.

They are? So far Telstra have only given away letters telling me
I've used devices that aren't 3G compatible and I'll need to get a
4G replacement by the 31st of August (not Sept. 2nd).

Also one of the devices they list is actually 4G, and sold by
Telstra (many years ago). They list it as "Telstra 4G Modem" on the
letter explaining "these 3G devices will cease to function:"!

Worse my mum had a 3G medical alarm to upgrade. She bought the new 4G
model, and it is almost identical, same 6-digit model number. Just
different firmware inside. I tried the old one with a Vodafone SIM, and
it shows full signal on the LEDs, but won't dial out. Sneakey pricks
getting oldies to buy the same thing twice, when they could have made it
3G/4G years ago.

They did that to me with one needing to scan with Covid COVIDSafe APP
to enter shops pubs...
needed a new phone, all it did was send scare alerts weeks after you
did shopping then to make it worse it would need a security check
outside in the rain (vision shot). made it as useless as federal
parliament is
(you think any polly use the compulsory water restricted show that

However were impressed with the new "Moto g 5G plus" phone I bought on
Ebay auction snipe for AU$200, fast charge, big screen, much better
receive and transmit Network range.

Doubt if you will go wrong with Motorola.
Sound clarity, ability to receive and transmit is as good as the best
There photo's are also very good mine has quadruple lens, their newer
phones are using better lens and have dropped to 2 from 4

Ebay auction snipe for AU$200, fast charge, big screen, much better
receive and transmit Network range.
new or used?
Brand new never used unlocked 4 photo lens' ()it uses 3 for photos.
1st from camera to 6 metres 2nd camera 6 to 100 metres. 100 metres to
infinity. then stitches the together for full depth of field 40 meg

Must of been "lucky"
Just looked now none new
Might be dated now with later models
Specs

yes it's a 2020 model. I just bought Moto g84. on special at JB HiFi. I
love moto phones, much better than Samsung, and better value too
Doubt if you will go wrong with Motorola.
Sound clarity, ability to receive and transmit is as good as the best
There photo's are also very good
the sound and picture quality of motos has always been great and the g84
is absolutely no exception
Post by Petzl
mine has quadruple lens, their newer
phones are using better lens and have dropped to 2 from 4
yep the g84 has two.

Going to tryout their Bluetooth earphones now they gave ten dollars
off by using their Voucher number
This is not the "noise cancelation" modelwhich is $10 more but has 9
hours less battery life (from 24 to 15)

So you'll have to scavenge around the tip for slightly newer ones.

I like how he thinks he knows everything about someone without actually
knowing anything much about them. and I laugh when he goes into Freudian
mode, and does his (highly flawed) psychoanalysis of me. if I had a
dollar for every time he has got things wrong, I could fly to the
Bahamas for a six month holiday!  :)

and his big problem is that he's such and egotistical narcissist he
believes whatever he thinks (and says) is the truth/reality. he never
thinks there could be other explanations than what his boganistic mind
invents. and his other major flaw (among many) is he never accepts or
sees the simple explanation for some things, but rather concocts some
sort of diabolical reason why it must not be so. like for example he
doesn't accept that two ppl can have the same thought or idea and agree.
one must be copying the other, or trying to gain favour, or some other
strange reason his weird mind invents.

I'm sure he will reply now, and say everything I said is wrong, but the
bad news for him is that I'm not!

Uh-huh.

You don't need to be much of a Psychologist to appreciate the *fact*
(you like facts) that you're not all there.

Not even close.

"Boganistic"? Da fug is dat? :)

You know Felix, the person who most qualifies as the "boganistic" poster
child in this group is the loud mouthed lump of clueless shit who drives
a Commodore and thinks Metallica is the greatest band to ever exist.

See if you can work out what fucktard that would be? I'll give you a
clue: He's a stupid Dutch cunt who lives in WA and is bamboozled by
plastic :)

Really? Like what, Felix? Like planes that can fly with one wing

kind of fuel at all?

I never said anything like that at all Felix, and this is yet *another*
example of your fragile mind being completely incapable of following a
basic conversation.

What I said was that it seems to be an astonishing run of coincidences
that the *only* times you seem to be thinking the same things as someone
else is *after* they've mentioned it. You always seem to follow. Not lead.

Not according to you, but then you just got through "remembering" some
Armed Walter Mitty who doubled as an Asio agent that no one else here
remembers at all.

Strange....

"Our" Media and Major parties are run by lobbyists

Lobbyists write the laws, parliament sells the laws,
paid lucrative commissions for passing their laws.
That’s the modern legislative business of parliament.

When we talk about paying-off politicians in third-world
countries we call it bribery.
However, when we undertake the same process in parliament.
we call it lobbying.

Most of the cars on my street are imported from China
Don't think that there are any Chinese made cars in my street, certainly
no Chinese brands, mostly Japanese brands with a few Europeans.
Without looking at a cars ID plate its difficult to say where it was
made, Hyundai and Toyota and many other manufacturers make cars all
around the world.
For example my Mercedes was made in Sth Africa, not many people would
know that, most assume that because its a German brand it was made in
Germany.
Most if not all "Japanese" utes are made in Thailand.
Hyundai manufactures most of it cars in Sth Korea (Its main plant is the
biggest single plant in the world) but has plants in the USA, Brazil,
Czech Republic, Turkey, Russia, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and
China so thinking that any of the Hyundai's in your street are made in
China is wrong, the majority of Australian Hyundai's are made in Sth
Korea although that may change soon to being built in the Czech Republic.

Exactly what I said but in 2023 there were 90 million cars made world
wide so China makes approx one third of all car made in a year, pretty
simple maths.

slightly less than one third of the cars made PA are made in China.

Interesting but still does not alter the fact that most cars sold in
*Australia* are actually made in China.
Post by Daryl
Exactly what I said but in 2023 there were 90 million cars made world
wide so China makes approx one third of all car made in a year, pretty
simple maths.
Not refering about making cars though, were referping to cars sold in
Australia being actually nainly made in China.

Might be something to do with being left hand drive?
Fact is not seen anyone in my street
(outer sydney metro, Campbelltown)
having trouble with them, all have to drive a hour through peak our
trafic to and from work, most are shift workers, around 60% of homes 4
bedrooms and rebtal, meaning 4 cars per house.
https://t.ly/DpPl6
These are now new homes what people now expected tp "live in" all
cramped together, and these are the better ones.
Not a Australia i want?

All cars have the creature features, sound, aircon, talking street
maps, very comfortable seats, leg room, mobile connect to stereo,
reliabily for daily Grind.

7 years ago bought my Mazda none made in Japan mine was Thailand.
But when looking at what to buy all now came with the talkig road map
(you are over the speed limit very handy and enough very relaxing)
Old and eyesight shot so don't personally now drive.

These are what people now live in cramped together

Most cars are made in China, you are just buying a badge.
LOL, not true.
Its true to say that many car parts are made in China but not complete
cars, Sth Korea, Europe, USA and even Thailand and South Africa make
huge numbers of cars.
Daryl
I said most
Still wrong.
As a country China is the worlds biggest car making country but still
produces approx a third of all the worlds car production.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/281133/car-production-in-china/#:~:text=In%202022%2C%20approximately%2023.84%20million,had%20been%20produced%20in%20China.&text=With%20a%20production%20volume%20of,largest%20production%20of%20passenger%20cars.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/262747/worldwide-automobile-production-since-2000/
But you need how many ford Toyota Mazda Holden cars BMW are Chinese
built compared to those made in USA Europe.
Which would turn out (IMO)one is paying for a badge, also made in
China

100% wrong.
The 2 best selling vehicles in Australia are the Ford Ranger and the
Toyota Hilux, both made in Thailand as is the Isuzu D Max.
The Corolla, RAV4, Nissan XTrail, and the Mitsubishi Outlander are all
made in Japan.
Out of the top 10 best sellers only 3 are made in China.

True that China makes approx 30million vehicles pa but total world
vehicle annual production is approx 90 million so China only makes
around a third of the total.

Can't get Telstra Mobile hoping getting rid of 3G will improve signal
Use Optus Amaysim for years.
Use Telstra for Internet which in case of NBN failure switch's to
their mobile network, But the modem led light shows out more than on.

They've pushed it back a second time! Now the turn-off is set for
the 28th of October:
https://www.telstra.com.au/support/mobiles-devices/3g-closure

It seems to be causing them more trouble than the 2G turn-off did.
Hopefully this will be an incentive for them to keep 4G running for
a long time since of course there aren't any cheap dumb phones with
5G support to replace my 15 year old 3G one at the moment.

So far *IF* they allow a Starlink app for Mobile phones it can only
use 4G. And can be done direct now without antenna.
