It's going off at the moment.. still a couple of hours before sunset,
few clouds around, but it's currently more powerful than it was this
morning... (peaked around midday here) Get away from as much light
pollution as you can...

Too much light pollution around here plus I have very little view
towards the south, I have excellent north and west views but when I look
south all I can see are houses.

Last night was 'interesting'... just as the display started here in
Melburg, it ended. Power levels went from 360 at 11.30am, to 230 at 7pm,
and to 120 at 9pm. End of show! Neighbours up the block got some nice
pics from my joint (and a fawn on his thermal camera.)

Thanks. My son woke me up, he saw it with the naked eye...

Just a heads up, a facebook page has said that the solar storm is going
off. Bigger than the one in May. So if you've never seen an Aurora,
tonight's the night. Said to be visable "mid Queensland". Shame i'm
here, more reno's on Monday, and taking my bro from Perth up the block,
and teach him how to shoot :-)

Wont matter. No aurora predicted for tonight (Saturday). 7pm AEDT here,
and hemispheric power is at 11gw. Not enough to light a candle. The
predicted mega solar flare has been and gone, and nothing expected for
at least the next 3 days if not longer.

Nice, I've seen the northern one, but on that occasion it was anything
other than spectacular, to the naked eye it was just a faint luminous
green cloud, It took a 1sec exposure to see it properly.

Talking to my sister in the UK tonight, it's the same there, they are at
a higher latitude than Melburgh, but it's still a rare sight there.
