Discussion:
Has anybody been fined for using fog lights?

Laws vary state to state, but typically say you cannot use them in fine
weather. And you get the RAC saying it is naughty, as you will dazzle
oncoming drivers. But looking at older cars with H27 bulbs, they are
only 450 lumens, not very bright. Some have H10 bulbs with 800 lumens. I
know Subarus are annoying, they use H3 bulbs, as bright as headlights.
Plus DRLs are so common now, so probably many people couldn't tell which
lights are on. So will the cops only ping somebody with ultra-bright
LEDs they got off Aliexpress?
P.S. I know rear fog lights on some cars are pretty bright, but I rarely
see them. I guess "fog lamps" are front only on some vehicles.

It depended whether low or high beam. With fog so thick as to hide
the kerb, high beams make it all worse. In any case crawl-speed was
the go.

Speaking of headlamps, what about the blindingly, dazzling,
paint-blistering actinic LED lamps made today? If in the old days one
could be fined for blinding oncoming drivers with normal sensible
lamps, the perpetrators with LED lamps should be jailed! And their
hoon wagons tossed into the drink as artificial reefs.

I know of one person who was fined for incorrectly using foglamps, he
was driving an SS Commodore ute.
That was quite a few years ago and it doesn't seem to be a problem like
it used to be a few years ago, maybe its just not "cool" anymore.
