I'd certainly much rather have my ZS than a clapped out commodore
I'd rather catch the bus than support china.
I'm on your side here. Should be WAY more punters with this sentiment.
Unfortunatly, sometimes an alternative isnt available, but in cars?
Yep plenty of choice...
but they lose on price
price isnt everything, Felix. China sell shit vehicles/cars. They are
renown for it.

I buy a vehicle expecting to get a minimum of at least 10 years out of
it, like my old Navara. Current Ranger is nearly 4 years old, and has
been flawless.

I wouldnt buy a chinese ute, or car/ev for that reason alone. 10 years+
china in the same sentance? LOL.

nevertheless Chinese vehicles have a definite price advantage, which is
significant for some buyers

ppl will buy what they want. those who value quality, and are willing to
pay for it, will buy Mazdas, Toyotas, Volkswagen, and the like. when
looking to replace the Lancer I looked at the Mistsub ASX, but couldn't
justify to myself the extra $7.5k for virtually nothing better. anyhow,
bottom line is, I like the ZS and am happy with it.

I'll be very surprised if I don't get 10 years out of the ZS, if I keep
it that long.

Of course they are. Felix can't see anything other than sticker price,
because he's an idiot who can't look past how much something will cost.

Same here. Previous Navara was fault free in 6 years, and the Ranger is
perfect. Still, at 13k km's it's a bit too early to talk about
durability, but there is certainly nothing about it thus far that gives
any indication of trouble. On the other hand, I've seen Chinese utes
with their steering wheel rims peeling off at 30k km's.

I'm with you. Chinese cars are rubbish. They look pretty and have lots
of nice sparkly fittings, but their designs are horrible and their
mechanical configurations are appalling.

How *anyone* could be satisfied with a car that made a paltry 85kw
running through a 3 speed auto with an overdrive in this day and age is
totally beyond me. That's 30 year old tech :)

That's a completely worthless statement Fraudster. As if you'd tell
anyone of any problems.

Anything and everything Darren says is completely worthless and his lack
of credibility is the reason.
He did make one fault mention I can recall - the Navara driver's seat
was fraying at ~70k klm - likely from him, short stature and all, having
to climb up and *slide* into the driver's seat. That harks back to the
early days of Japanese commercials where the upholstery was ripped to
hell within a few years of use. Nissan quality - of the 60s.

This from the bloke who once wouldn't buy a *new* car because of the
depreciation hit. Oh what an about face from the hypocrite!

I've seen Fords with their steering wheel rims cracking and falling
apart at 70-100k klm. Your point is?

Hmmm, their designs are either *copies* of European/Japanese cars, or
the result of *joint ventures* with major automakers.

More lies Darren? How *utterly normal* for you! FWIW, the trans is a 4
speed - not a 3 speed with an overdrive, there's a difference, not that
you would have a clue. Anyway, a 4 speed is more than adequate for the
engine's torque spread and horsepower.

A lot of things are totally beyond you - like engine rebuilding for
instance. And, it has to be noted, both the engine and transmission are
GM joint development projects - so not particularly old tech.
