Very good questions, Chinese cars don't enjoy a great reputation re
parts availability.
Sometimes accessing tail lamps can be awkward but anyone who says that
it was "extremely difficult" or "massive difficult" should get someone
else to do it, they clearly have no idea what a really difficult job is.

Not really Felix, but this is yet *again* another example of the
bullshit your mates will resort to in order to have something to scream
about, and how you in your complete subordinate ignorance lap up every
bit of it.

I wonder. If the day ever come where by some miraculous biological
accident you suddenly grew a second brain cell which allowed you to
fully appreciate just what an ignorant fucktard you have spent your life
being, would you ever acknowledge that fact by setting out on a trek to
all the people you've no doubt wronged in your life, or would you just
continue to play the fool because the decades of experience have made
you remarkably good at it?

Hypothetical question there, Petey, so relax. The chances of you ever
actually growing a second brain cell are about as remote as you being
named captain of the first manned mission to colonise Mars....

Apu, no response from Ol' Buffo.

Eureka! I've just realised something! Fraudsters' much varying height is
probably due to him not having a backbone! The alternative material he's
using, a combination of toxic bile and bullshit, is more subject to
expansion and contraction than the predominantly calcium phosphate and
collagen mix that humans have.

**I don't know one way or the other> Felix has confirmed that a common
part is both available and reasonably priced. In my industry, Korean
manufacturers have a terrible reputation for spare parts supply. As soon
as a product has become obsolete, parts evaporate. It has caused
enormous problems in the industry. I caution against buying Korean
electronics as a result. It gets worse with safety recalls with Korean
products. I don't know it that situation is the same with Korean cars. I
was wondering about Chinese cars though. Hence the questions.

I had to rebuild the engine on my son's 2013 Hyundai Elantra a few
months ago, and as part of that process needed to obtain a few small &
obscure genuine part parts from a dealer as they weren't available after
market. Just a couple of bolts and screws that I didn't like the look of
& didn't want to re-use, and a couple of oil pump housing o-rings which
were a different size to those supplied in the gasket set.

Given that the car is just over 10 years old I didn't expect much of it
to be available, if any at all, but it all was and I had it within a
couple of days.

One thing I particularly like about Porsche is that you can get just
about any part including parts for very old cars like the 356 which
dates back to the 1950's.
Parts aren't cheap but generally everything is still available.

Yeah, they have a massive cult following which ensures parts
availability. It's like Model T Fords. They stopped making the things
almost a hundred years ago, but you can still buy almost enough parts
today to make one from scratch.

**How much did the part cost? How long did it take to obtain the
part?  From a local source?
Very good questions, Chinese cars don't enjoy a great reputation
re parts availability.
**I don't know one way or the other> Felix has confirmed that a
common part is both available and reasonably priced. In my
industry, Korean manufacturers have a terrible reputation for spare
parts supply. As soon as a product has become obsolete, parts
evaporate. It has caused enormous problems in the industry. I
caution against buying Korean electronics as a result. It gets
worse with safety recalls with Korean products. I don't know it
that situation is the same with Korean cars. I was wondering about
Chinese cars though. Hence the questions.
I had to rebuild the engine on my son's 2013 Hyundai Elantra a few
months ago,
Goes without saying.

This is yet another fine example of the mental case making an utterly
nonsensical comment in order to have a go at me with it blowing up in
his stupid face and doing nothing other than making *himself* look like
a complete and utter spastic.

I don't like Chinese cars because (a) I'm no fan of the Chinese
government's arrogance, and (b) I've seen nothing from the Chinese thus
far that I find to be even *remotely* interesting let alone of any
reasonable quality.

What Felix chooses to own is none of my business and doesn't impact me

Yeah, they are known for engine failures any time after 100k klms, the
lemon *tick of death*. Hmmm, that's not a lot different to that POS
Navara he had. Then there are the timing chain issues with the
Elantra. Seems the chains have a short life, unlike most cars, and you
might need to change out the chains as often as engines that need
timing belt changes. And the problems just continue on from there.
Talk about a POS to avoid on the second hand market!
Must have been one of the *Darren's recommendations!* Wonder if his
son is still talking to him? Hey, if Darren is doing the rebuild,
expect it to detonate before it's even run in - like poor old Les'
engine.
with all the money he likes to throw around he could have bought his son

A 2013 Elantra *is* a decent car for a young kid Felix. He's on his L's
and it's a good little car for him to be learning in with a reasonable
suite of safety & comfort features, and he enjoys driving it. The idea
is for him to start off with something basic that offers him a fair
level of ease, comfort and protection. Once he gets himself established
if he wants something better he can go out and get it himself.

A very safe car - because it'll be off the road more than it is on it.

Pretty much! All those decades and no improvement. Anyway, FWIW, those
old E Series engines in the Aussie Marinas were *bulletproof*, way
better than the A and B Series engines.

Actually Felix there is nothing "clapped out" about it at all. It's a

a brand new engine in. It's insured for 12 and a half grand.

You can't take it with you.
Please test this adage...

Anyhoo... your finances are a tad curious to me Fraudster. eg

For over 20 years you've been unemployable... sorry... *unemployed*,
claiming that you're living on the 13years of income and the $1m sale of
the fabled Noddy's Auto. But as that river of gold never existed then in
*real* dollar terms that's zero dollars. You denied (eventually)
receiving any compo from any of your fabled accidents, and there is no
proof that you gained anything from the bricks and mortar of the *real*
PoB address of Noddy's Auto, ie your parents' residence in Myrtle Grove.

So, I'm getting close to holding the opinion that you've been bludging
off the wife for > 20 years. And before that, your parents.

oty for your fact-filled, articulate and well-structured response
Fraudster!

Oh! Am still waiting to hear what your relationship to 'Ward
Engineering' was/is.

cheerio!

Looks are deceiving. That model had very serious mechanical issues.
Though not named specifically in this action there are serious issues
with many Hyundai and Kia vehicles and anyone who recommends a Hyundai

Class actions can be a bit odd, over the last couple of months I've
received emails from a legal firm asking me to join a class action
against Alliance Insurance, I checked what it was about and 99% sure we
weren't affected.
We did have a car insurance policy with Alliance but didn't have the
issue that the law firm was going on about (something about paying for
extras we didn't get) yet they sent us at least 4 emails, seems like
they were just touting for business.
I've never owned a Hyundai and most likely never will but I know a
couple of people that currently own them (both 2023 models) and others
who have owned them in the past and all seem very happy with the brand.

Probably.

Problems with new cars today are part and parcel of the new car
business. It doesn't matter what brand you're talking about they have
*all* had issues in the past and will have them again in the future.
It's piss poor if you ask me, but its the reality of the world we live
in today where the general public are forced to be beta testers, and
anyone who thinks that's *not* how it works today is playing with
themselves with *both* hands.

But it's interesting to read the comments here and see some of the
ridiculous bias :)

A class action is brought against Hyundai for particular engines and the
munts in this group carry on as if even mentioning the *name* is a war
crime that is punishable by death. But when Toyota makes the national
news for the class actions launched against them all we hear from the
munts is the sounds of silence :)

We've had 4 Hyundai's in the family. All bought new. An Ix35, two Santa
Fe's, and an I30, and they've all been faultless apart from the last
Santa Fe which developed a minor fault in one of the automatic tailgate
struts which the local dealer in Melton tested and replaced under warranty.

They've all been great cars that we've been very happy with.

Don't know where he gets his numbers from, on carsales.com.au 2013
Elantra vary for a low of $7200 to a high of $16990.00.

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/?q=(And.(C.Make.Hyundai._.Model.Elantra.)_.CarAll.keyword(2013).)&sort=Price

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/?q=(And.(C.Make.Hyundai._.Model.Elantra.)_.CarAll.keyword(2013).)&sort=~Price

Maybe he's talking about trade in value rather than retails sales price?
If so the numbers he quoted still seem quite low.

That's interesting. I clicked on your link in SeaMonkey and the Carsales
home page opened in the Seamonkey browser, but all the content section
contained was a neat message, "You have been blocked." Curious, I then
pasted the link into both Chrome and Brave and got the same result. Next
step was to try and open the Carsales home page from a couple of search
engines. Same result. No-one else has mentioned this problem so it's a
bit odd.

Anyhoo, will sort it later. It was time for a new pc anyway...

there's something wrong with the link. I checked. just type

and don't use Seamonkey browser! It's not kept up to date, pages often

Yep, sure is. Having never had an "at fault" prang I've never had a
reason to look into insurance premiums, so is my assumption that the
more claims you make, esp. "at fault" ones, the higher your premiums go.
Presumably until they refuse you. If that's correct, then I wonder what
Fraudster, with his extensive claimed history of single vehicle
incidents, was paying? And 'yes', his declared insurance value of the
Marinalantra is hilarious. He just can't help himself. What a buffoon.

only 3 grand for his son.
2 things here, Felix.

Firstly, the monetary value is irrelevant. If I'd bought the car off
someone I didn't know and paid the regular market value for it would
that make a difference?

Secondly, As much as it probably seems foreign to you, the idea is to
give him a start, but not a sense of entitlement. My wife and I do okay,
but he has his own path in life to make. We're happy to help, but we're
not doing it for him. The best way to give people an appreciation of the
value of money is to let them experience what it's like to work for it.
It makes you appreciate the things you like a hell of a lot more.

spent around 200 grand for him and his wife including the old truck,
but only 3 grand for his son.
2 things here, Felix.
Firstly, the monetary value is irrelevant.
What? Because you say so? That's not going to cut the iced vo-vos Buffo.
"You get what you pay for" is a wayyy more appropriate adage.
Post by Noddy
If I'd bought the car off
someone I didn't know and paid the regular market value for it would
that make a difference?
Secondly, As much as it probably seems foreign to you, the idea is to
give him a start, but not a sense of entitlement.
Hahahahahahahaha. There is absolutely no chance of that Fraudster. He's
the son of a charmless & socially incompetent father, lives in the
wastelands and now has a car which must make him the laughing stock of
every U21 male in Bumhole (Vic).

My wife and I do okay,

50% right there Fraudster. You're improving!
Post by Noddy
but he has his own path in life to make. We're happy to help, but we're
not doing it for him. The best way to give people an appreciation of the
value of money is to let them experience what it's like to work for it.
Oh vomit.
As I've very recently concluded elsewhere Buffo, I suspect that you've
been sponging off others your whole miserable life.

so we're expected to believe he turned a car worth only $1.5k into one
worth $12.5k just by putting a new engine in it? hmm..does sound sus. if
the engine was crap most likely the rest of it was also.
Actually Felix I don't expect you to do a thing. I never do. You ask and
I'll tell you, but what you decide to do after that is your business. As
I've mentioned to you before, I really don't care what you choose to
believe :)

As for the car itself, it belonged to the mother of a friend of mine who
I'm sorry to say is undergoing end of life care in a palliative ward as
we speak after a long battle with liver cancer. She bought the car brand
new, and I actually took her to buy it and did the deal for her at
Harrison Hyundai in Melton. I've known the car since the day she first
picked it up, and I've serviced it exclusively while she's owned it. It
never went anywhere near a dealership. Not even for the first free service.

When she became too ill to drive about a year go, she offered the car to
me for my son, and she wanted to give it to me for free. I refused to
accept it for free, and being the pig headed old stick that she was she
refused to accept any money. In the end we compromised. She needed a new
hot water service installed at her house, so I organised and paid for
that to be done in exchange for the car.

The cost was 1500 bucks, and everyone was happy.

The car itself was in decent condition having done 77 thousand km's. It
had a few minor marks on it and needed a good clean, and all I had to do
to get it roadworthied was to give it a wash and clean inside, and
repaint the front bumper as she'd scraped the corner.

It's problem was that like many of the breed, it suffered from the
"Elantra Tick".

You can google it if you wish, but generally speaking Hyundai used a
crap batch of pistons on their G4NB engines between 2012-2015 which,
after a while developed a piston slap issue. The problem basically
stemmed from a faulty layer of a graphite based coating applied to the
piston skirts as a friction reduction medium which peeled off
prematurely, and when it did it opened up the piston to bore clearance
and caused the piston to slap.

It wasn't terminal and the engine would run for ages with the problem,
and many do today. However I decided to rebuild the engine with a rebore
and after market pistons which fixes the problem, and while I had it
apart I reconditioned the cylinder head, replaced the timing chain and
did a few other things. Essentially after only 77 thousand km's most of
the engine's components were in excellent condition, but there are
certain elements I don't like to reuse once the engine has been
dismantled and they were replaced.

The engine was rebuilt some time ago & runs fine, and the car gets used
everyday with my kid driving it to school and me picking him up from
work 2 nights a week. It drives just fine, doesn't have any issues and I
don't expect there to be.

It's a good little car and he likes it. That's all that matters to me.

Actually Felix there is nothing "clapped out" about it at all. It's a
one owner car that I paid 1500 bucks for and spend another 1500 putting
a brand new engine in. It's insured for 12 and a half grand.
But by all means Felix. Keep lapping up the crap your clueless mates

More importantly what cars did Felix buy his kids assuming he has any?
He buys himself one of the cheapest cars on the market then has the
audacity to criticize the car your son has, what hypocrisy.

It's Ok, neither does Darren. He's just taking a set against
Chinese cars in order to have a go at Felix.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What a fucking *stupid* comment!!. (From a *fucking stupid* old git tho.)
You act genuinely surprised? :)
This is yet another fine example of the mental case making an utterly
nonsensical comment in order to have a go at me with it blowing up in
his stupid face and doing nothing other than making *himself* look
like a complete and utter spastic.
I don't like Chinese cars because (a) I'm no fan of the Chinese
government's arrogance, and (b) I've seen nothing from the Chinese
thus far that I find to be even *remotely* interesting let alone of
any reasonable quality.
What Felix chooses to own is none of my business and doesn't impact
me in any way whatsoever :)
So why do you find the need to comment on his choice *all the time*??
Hypocrisy much?
Especially rich given the 2013 Elantra had so many engine problems and
early life failures... then he rebuilt it and set it up for another one!
Yikes.
Yeah, they are known for engine failures any time after 100k klms, the
lemon *tick of death*. Hmmm, that's not a lot different to that POS
Navara he had. Then there are the timing chain issues with the Elantra.
Seems the chains have a short life, unlike most cars, and you might need
to change out the chains as often as engines that need timing belt
changes. And the problems just continue on from there.
Talk about a POS to avoid on the second hand market!
Must have been one of the *Darren's recommendations!* Wonder if his son
is still talking to him? Hey, if Darren is doing the rebuild, expect it
to detonate before it's even run in - like poor old Les' engine.
